Golgi Apparatus
How
does your cell’s organelles receive the proteins and lipids
that they need from the ribosomes and Endoplasmic
Reticulum? That is supposed to be the
job of your cell’s Golgi Apparatus. The Golgi Apparatus
is responsible for the packageing and distributing of
proteins and lipids. The Ribosomes and
Endoplasmic Reticulum are the organelles that manufacture the proteins and
lipids. The proteins and lipids are then
transported to the Golgi Apparatus. Enzymes within the apparatus act on the
proteins and lipids and serve as molecular address labels to determine where
the protein or lipid will go. The Golgi Apparatus will then ship off the molecules to the area of
the cell it is needed in, or the molecules will go to the Plasma Membrane,
where they will be shipped to other cells.
So, if your cell’s organelles are not receiving their proteins and
lipids, then get a new Golgi Apparatus.
