Lysosomes
Are
your cells unable to digest food and waste materials within them? UH OH! What happened to your lysosomes? (Hi! You
should know that if a lysosome within one of your
cells has split open somehow, you are looking at the wrong product to
purchase. You need to go look for a new
cell itself!) After all, your lysosomes are responsible for the task of digesting waste
materials and food within your cells.
The fact is that the cells have very destructive enzymes that do the job
of digestion. But the problem of these
enzymes is that they are so strong that they could eat up other organelles
within the cell, such as the Nucleus or Golgi Apparatus. The lysosome really
is a compartment in the cell that is covered with membrane and houses the cell
digestion enzymes. Current models of lysosomes come with 40 enzymes included and will not
support more than that limit. If an
enzyme is gone in any manner, the cell’s rough ER and Golgi Apparatus
will manufacture and ship new enzymes respectively to the lysosomes.
Sizes range from 0.05
mm
to 0.5 mm (in diameter).
