You may not know it, but it is true. Almost every eukaryotic cell contains small vesicles called peroxisomes that are derived from the smooth ER. These peroxisomes contain several kinds of enzymes. Some peroxisome enzymes convert fats to carbohydrates, while others alter potentially harmful molecules within the cell by forming hydrogen peroxide, H₂O₂, (not water, remember!), which is converted to water.
